‘Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’ Trailer
Focus Features has released the first full trailer for the upcoming end-of-the-world comedy ‘Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’. How would you spend your final three weeks on earth if you learned that a 70 mile-wide asteroid was on a collision course for the planet.
I’m still a little hesitant about Steve Carell and Keira Knightley being romantically paired in this film, this trailer was very surprising. ’Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’ feels like it will be ‘Meloncholia’ but mixed with more mature comedic sensibilities. The film has a fantastic cast consisting of Steve Carell, Keira Knightley, Connie Britton, Adam Brody, Rob Corddry, Rob Huebel, Gillian Jacobs, Derek Luke, Melanie Lynskey, T.J. Miller and Patton Oswalt. I should also mention this films rated R and is written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, who wrote the screenplay for ‘Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist’, a film I absolutely love. Being an unabashed Keira Knightley fan, it’s nice to see her getting back into doing more lighthearted roles, instead of only doing period peices.
I’m sure the film will pull back at the end instead of having a ‘Meloncholia’ bummer ending, but it would be kind of interesting if this was the ‘Meloncholia’ of rom-coms.
‘Seeking a Friend for the End of the World’ opens this summer on June 22nd.
